Two (5) Star Reviews on DealerRater -

  • " Very friendly and attentive staff, willing to work with me. They showed they wanted my business and were willing to do what it took to get my business. When I talked price with them, they did what they could to get me to the price needed to make a deal happen, and the finance department also worked to make it happen at the price agreed upon." - dbecker

  • " We were looking to refinance our old car cause we were paying a huge a.p.r. They let us know we would be better off in a newer vehicle. Mr. Comacho promised he could lower our rate and our monthly payment. Of course we were skeptical. After a few phone calls and wheeling and dealing they said you have a new car! We hadn't heard the numbers yet though. When we met with Mr. Schon he ran it down to us.O.M.G!!! They did what they promised! Lowered our a.p.r. by a huge amount and just as Mr.Comacho stated our monthly payment was lowered by more than $100!! We now are proud owners of a beautiful Honda Accord! See these guys. From the pleasant greeting of Keith to the determination of jonathan and the expertize of Kurt we were more than satisfied!" - dalleyne

Honda's Blue Skies for Our Children: Rallying Cry Still Rings True

Honda has adopted a global environmental slogan -- Blue Skies for Our Children -- to inspire our company to achieve new targets we have established to reduce CO2 emissions from our products and the operations that produce them. These words arouse strong emotions in Honda engineers, and take me back to a time four decades ago when the same phrase served as the rallying cry for Honda's first effort to tackle a challenging environmental issue.

I joined Honda as a young engineer in 1976. What attracted me, as with so many Honda customers and fans, was a brand that showed a can-do spirit in creating something the rest of the auto industry argued couldn't be done – a vehicle with cleaner emissions and high fuel economy that was also fun to drive.

This vehicle was the Honda Civic – and it had something else that was truly revolutionary -- CVCC engine technology, for Compound Vortex Combustion Controlled. That's a mouthful of complex engineering, but what CVCC helped create is simpler -- a lean burn engine that made Civic the first car to meet the stringent tailpipe emissions standards of the U.S. Clean Air Act without the need for after treatment of the exhaust. The Civic CVCC was also #1 on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) very first list of the most fuel efficient vehicles in America.

Based on his own belief in the importance of advancing mobility to address the issue of environmental sustainability, Honda founder Soichiro Honda pulled our company out of Formula One racing in 1969 in order to devote Honda's full engineering resources to developing advanced environmental technologies. He then challenged Honda engineers to create a cleaner-burning engine to address air pollution – which was then the most serious environmental sustainability issue facing the automobile industry.

Honda engineers were reading reports about the serious impact pollution would have on the health of children. A group of doctors in Japan published a report about high levels of lead in the blood streams of children. The Club of Rome, founded in Italy in April 1968 by a small international group of academics, scientists, government and industry leaders, focused global attention on negative environmental consequences, forecasting limits to human expansion within less than 100 years if no major change in society occurred. In 1970, Congress passed the 1970 Clean Air Act, creating stringent new emissions standards and the U.S. government created the EPA.

Mr. Honda saw this as a great way to compete against more established companies. But Honda engineers suggested that their real motivation and goal was to ensure "Blue Skies for Our Children," in other words, to ensure the future of mobility and the health of the planet for future generations. This phrase became the team's rallying cry in the effort to find and develop technology that could improve air quality.

Mr. Honda was proud that his engineers had looked at this challenge as more than a competitive challenge. With a great deal of passion and energy, the team of Honda engineers addressed the challenge of sustainable mobility. And this led to the breakthrough with the CVCC engine that powered the Honda Civic. When I learned of these events, it helped deepen my appreciation that the purpose of our technology was to help people and society. That certainly made Honda a company I wanted to contribute my best efforts to.

In the ensuing years, Honda continued to advance its engine technologies. Over the past four decades, we led the global auto industry in meeting a series of increasingly stringent tailpipe emissions requirements, starting with the first gasoline-powered Low Emission Vehicle (LEV) in the hands of consumers, sparking an era of fundamental improvements to air quality. Of course, we were proud to be first, but Honda's strategy for reducing emissions was something of our gift to the world. We provided the auto industry with a practical and economical pathway to reducing exhaust emissions on a broad scale that no one thought possible. At the same time, we have been a consistent leader in fuel-efficiency, topping fuel-economy rankings for 22 of the past 36 years

Today, the challenge of environmental sustainability is much broader than air pollution – encompassing numerous energy and environmental issues, including the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (primarily CO2) that contribute to global climate change and the transition from fossil fuels to renewable forms of energy, among other issues.

But I am excited that Honda's environmental vision to pursue the joy of mobility and a sustainable society where people can enjoy life continues to be inspired by the original rallying cry of Honda engineers – something that Honda associates throughout our company embrace on a daily basis. Once again, our effort to achieve a challenging target to reduce CO2 emissions is guided by our mission to leave "Blue Skies for Our Children."

Realization of safe coexistence of people and mobility

Bnrl_top

Honda’s quest for safety is not limited to the needs of car drivers and motorcycle riders. Honda’s total commitment to “Safety for Everyone” extends to passengers, pedestrians, occupants of other vehicles, and everyone on the road. Honda will continue to develop and refine its innovative technologies to realize a safer society.

Striving to achieve “Safety for Everyone”

Seeking to manufacture cars that enhance safety, Honda has been working to enhance active safety and collision safety to help reduce human injuries. In the area of collision safety, in 1998 Honda announced proprietary G-force Control technology (G-CON), which controls impact (G) forces in collisions to help reduce injuries to people. In 2000, Honda opened the world’s first indoor omni-directional crash test safety facility. Through testing and analysis of real-world accident scenarios, Honda invented Advanced Compatibility EngineeringTM (ACETM) body technology, providing enhanced G-CON safeguards and improved self-protective capabilities to better shield occupants of both vehicles in car-to-car collisions. Honda also created technology to raise the vehicle hood in car-to-pedestrian collisions, helping to lessen the potential for pedestrian head injuries. In the area of active safety, in 2003 Honda devised the Collision Mitigation Braking SystemTM (CMBSTM), which can anticipate and help reduce the likelihood of a collision with the rear of another vehicle, as well as seatbelt E-pretensioners. In 2004, Honda developed the world’s first Intelligent Night Vision System, which uses a far-infrared camera to detect pedestrians on nighttime roads and then alerts the driver. Honda will continue its efforts to create technology and equipment for both active and collision safety measures, helping to ensure the wellbeing of all people on roadways.

World’s first driver-side i-SRS airbag system with continuously staged inflation

In September 2008, Honda developed the world’s first driver-side i-SRS airbag system with a continuously-staged inflation function that accommodates a wider range of driver seating positions and types of collisions.* It features spiral-shaped seams and a gas release control valve designed for optimal control of an airbag’s internal pressure to achieve prompt and low-impact deployment with continuously-staged inflation, making it possible to sustain protection for a longer period of time.

"Sales person was courteous, polite, and understood that I was a serious buyer ready to do business. Negotiating was back and forth and I left feeling just about satisfied with the price I purchased the vehicle at. My only negative is the Honda care extended warranty that was being added on discretely. I again would like to comment on the dealership professionalism on a whole and the patience demonstrated as negotiating took place. I would definitely buy my next car from White Plains Honda and would recommend this dealership to my friends and family members." - Belize-it

All-New Odyssey Receives NHTSA 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score

Safety-header
The Odyssey comes equipped with sophisticated technology that can help you avoid accidents and help protect occupants with an amazing array of safety features.

5-Star Safety
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) toughened up its crash-safety tests for 2011, and the Odyssey passed with flying colors. In fact, the Odyssey earned 5-stars in each seating position of all three crash-safety tests, as well as earning a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score[1].
Active Safety Features
Standard active safety features include the anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), which helps the driver retain steering control when braking hard, and Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®)[2] with traction control, which helps to detect and correct oversteer and understeer.
Active front head restraints help reduce the likelihood of whiplash injuries in the event of a rear impact. The head restraints are designed to tilt forward in a fraction of a second to decrease the space between the back of the occupant's head and the head restraint.
To help you avoid accidents in the first place, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)[3] uses a warning icon that will illuminate within the gauge cluster, notifying the driver that significantly low pressure has been detected in one or more of the tires. Also for 2011, the Odyssey features up to five Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren (LATCH) seating positions, making the Odyssey an excellent baby mover.
Peace of Mind
If the unthinkable happens, the Odyssey helps protect its passengers with the Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure, which is designed to absorb impacts of vehicles of various sizes in the event of front-end collisions. Front 3-point seat belts with automatic tensioning system, and front side airbags with passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) all help to protect you and your passengers in sufficient impacts.
Honda's Safety Philosophy
Honda is committed to providing safety for everyone—that means crash protection not only for our own drivers and passengers, but also for the occupants of other vehicles, and injury mitigation for pedestrians. We are dedicated to identifying and implementing advanced designs and features that help enhance the safety of vehicles on the road. Learn more.
[1] Based on frontal crash- and side crash-safety ratings and Overall Vehicle Score in the NHTSA NCAP testing. Government 5-Star Safety Ratings are part of NHTSA's New Car Assessment Program (www.SaferCar.gov). Model tested with standard side airbags (SABs). Vehicles tested under the new program cannot be compared to MY10 and earlier vehicles.

[2] VSA is not a substitute for safe driving. It cannot correct the vehicle's course in every situation or compensate for reckless driving. Control of the vehicle always remains with the driver.

[3] For optimal tire wear and performance, tire pressure should be checked regularly with a gauge. Do not rely solely on the monitor system. Please see your Honda dealer for details.

Blink-182 returns to lead Honda Civic Tour

Blink182epkprimary

When the Honda Civic Tour was looking for a headliner for its 10th anniversary jaunt, organizers went back to their roots, signing pop-punk powerhouse Blink-182, which was the main attraction on the initial edition.

It is kind of an apt pairing, as Blink-182 was there for the emergence of the annual tour, and this year marks the re-emergence of Blink-182, which has a new record, "Neighborhoods," set for a Sept. 27 release, the group's first in nearly eight years. "Up All Night," the album's first single, was released last month and hit the Top 10 on Billboard magazine's alternative singles chart.

Since their fans will not have heard the new record when the Honda Civic Tour -- which also includes My Chemical Romance and Manchester Orchestra -- comes to Hartford's Comcast Theatre Sunday, the band members plan on performing a good amount of older hits in addition to the new tunes.

"I think it will be a good mix of the new stuff and the music that we've been playing for the past couple of decades," singer-bassist Mark Hoppus said in a recent conference call. "I think that all of us know that when people come to a Blink show, they're going to want to hear `All of the Small Things' and `Rock Show' and `Stay Together for the Kids' and the singles that we've had over the years.

"And we will put some of the new songs into the set list, as well. (We're) just working to figure out what those songs are going to be."

Blink-182 went on hiatus in 2005, after singer-guitarist Tom DeLonge left to form his own band, Angels and Airwaves. Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker stayed together, starting the band +44. Barker also performed with other bands, dabbled in producing record and starred in an MTV reality series, "Meet the Barkers." Barker also nearly died in a plane crash in 2008 in South Carolina, which took the lives of four people.

DeLonge, who also took part in the media session, said the members' work outside of Blink-182 has helped shape the sound of "Neighborhoods."

"I think we've had an incredible time bringing all of our skill sets that we do in our off time to this and I think it's been a lot of fun for every person to contribute things that they've learned in different places," he said. "And it's one of the things that has made this band so strong."

The sessions for "Neighborhoods" were different than in the past, with DeLonge doing his parts in a studio in San Diego, where he resides, and Hoppus and Barker working in Los Angeles. DeLonge and Hoppus said the two-studio system is vital for getting the work done without infringing too much on the members' personal lives and outside projects.

"I think it has been a really great way for all of us to be able to both work intensely and also be able to spend time with our families," Hoppus said. "The thing that's changed as far as our recording schedule is that when we were younger, we used to start in the studio at like noon or 2 in the afternoon and go until midnight or 2 in the morning.

"And now, for me, I'm in the studio at 9 in the morning and I'm usually done by 5 and I can go home and be with my family and I still get the same amount of work done in a day as if I started at noon.

"And because we have two studios, we don't have to sit around the studio while another person is writing their part or tracking their part. ... It just frees up a lot of time that way."

With the Blink-182 machine back up and running, the members all speak of it as the main artistic project in their lives, not a one-shot reunion event.

"Blink is our priority as a band. It's what we've done since Day 1 for almost 20 years at this point," Hoppus said. "The other projects that we have in our lives allow us to kind of break away and do something creative and bring that knowledge and those skills back to Blink as a band."

And, having been around for nearly two decades, Hoppus and DeLonge said they find it "weird" to hear that they have inspired some of the younger bands that are starting to make waves.

"It's strange to be cited as an influence when we still feel like we're trying to figure out what we're all about in the first place," Hoppus said. "I'm very grateful that a lot of bands that are having a lot of success right now cite us as an influence. That's a huge honor."

DeLonge attributed it to the staying power of Blink-182's music.

"Maybe that just happens to bands that have been around," he said. "But I also think there's something that's really honorable in a band that can preserve and push forward a legacy and continue to take risks."

The Comcast Theatre is at 61 Savitt Way, Hartford. Sunday, Aug. 14, 7 p.m. $20-$85. 800-745-3000, www.LiveNation.com.

  • "I had a very good experience at White Plains Honda. It was due to mainly to James Blloshmi. He was very nice, courteous, professional, dilligent and helpful. He spent a lot of time answering all of our concerns. The rest of the staff were good, but James was over the top." - rgonzal

  • "It was a very easy experience. I let Keith Alexander know what I was looking for, he didn't push me, he simply gave me options and ideas. Without a lot of back and forth, I got the deal I was looking for. The timing was very easy - I did the bulk of the back and forth while my current car was being serviced in White Plain's Service Department.

When it came time to do the paperwork, everything was ready and the process was simple and our new car was waiting right outside for us.

The whole team was extremely friendly, someone even gave my children balloons to play with while they waited.

I will be back for car #3 - thanks to Keith Alexander, Brandi, and Kurt and the whole team." - Eric Brown

Preview of the Honda Indy 200

89147830
This weekend the IZOD IndyCar Series returns to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. As the 12th stop on the 2011 schedule, this race will mark three consecutive road events for the series. Drama is building in the battle for the championship and only six races remain after Sunday's race. Here are five things to watch at the Honda Indy 200 on August 7, 2011.

Historic track: The famed track, about an hour north of Columbus, is in its 50th season of hosting competitive racing. Mid-Ohio is home to nearly all varieties of automotive events, including races for motorcycles, sports cars, open wheel cars and stock cars. Additionally, the 330 acre complex is home to driving schools, motorcycle meets, car shows and much of the testing for various road racing series in America. This will be the 27th time Mid-Ohio has hosted an IndyCar race and its past is filled with legendary winners like Mario Andretti, Emerson Fittipaldi and Juan Pablo Montoya. Winning here is always a big deal.

Championship race: A preview of every week of the 2011 season could focus on the battle between Chip Ganassi Racing's Dario Franchitti and Team Penske's Will Power. These drivers have already won 8 of the year's 11 events and are always the favorites on any track. Franchitti currently enjoys a 38 point lead on his rival, but Power had similar advantage on the Scotsman at this point in 2010, only to fall short in the end. Last year's race at Mid-Ohio saw Franchitti and Power finish first and second. If both avoid contact from slower cars, expect the duo to compete for this win once again.

Helio charging: After a disappointing 17th place finish in Toronto, it appeared the former Dancing with the Stars winner was suffering through the worst of his 12 year career driving for Roger Penske. That still may be true, but after a solid second place finish at Edmonton, Castroneves is moving in the right direction. Rediscovering his dancing shows, Helio was the only driver who could stay with Will Power and nearly caught the Australian late in the race. A threat on road courses and ovals, Helio is seeking his first win of the 2011 campaign. The Brazilian won at Mid-Ohio back in 2000 and 2001. If he qualifies near the front, Helio will be a threat on Sunday.

Danica departing: In the past week, word has leaked confirming earlier rumors that Danica Patrick will be leaving the IZOD IndyCar Series in 2012 to compete full-time in NASCAR. With her Andretti Autosport contract expiring, this is hardly surprising and likely a good decision. The popular GoDaddy driver is best suited for oval racing and has already displayed prowess on super-speedways in the Nationwide Series. Danica may still compete annually in the Indy 500, but she will certainly be leaving behind road races like Mid-Ohio. Patrick finished 21st and 19th in the track's past two events, so a podium finish may be out-of-reach. However, with her future clarified, perhaps Danica takes some chances and surprises IndyCar fans in her remaining time in the series.

Shakeup in the field: While the prior two events in Canada featured the same 26 car lineup, the roster for Mid-Ohio is slightly different. Dragon Racing's Paul Tracy won't compete, but the field will include two new drivers. Sarah Fisher Racing's effort for popular American driver Ed Carpenter returns. Carpenter previously entered five oval races in May and June, scoring an impressive eleventh place finish in the Indianapolis 500. Sam Schmidt Motorsports also adds a second car to the field for Martin Plowman. The English driver is a veteran of Indy Lights and won that series' event at Mid-Ohio in 2010.

Congratulations to Mae for being mentioned in this great review!

Dealer-rater-logo
5 Star Review on DealerRater -

As a Service Excellence Consultant and Management Consultant for one of the toughest services industries around; healthcare, I am well-qualified to evaluate customer service delivery, and Ms. Mae Soleiman, at White Plains Honda is the kind of Sales Consultant you not only want to buy or lease your FIRST vehicle from, but every car thereafter and keep her on speed dial to refer to friends and families. I am a loyal Honda customer and recently entered into my 4th lease agreement with Honda, but this was my first visit to White Plains Honda and I was impressed from the moment I walked in. The facility is clean, the customer service is attentive and friendly, including getting a visit from General Manager, Nelson, and the staff seems genuinely concerned about ensuring that the customer gets into the vehicle of their choosing, "not" of the dealership's choosing!

My first telephone contact with Ms. Soleiman was informative, she was friendly, knowlegable and respectful. She made an appointment with me working around my schedule and called to confirm. When I got to the dealership, Ms. Soleiman was professional, accomodating and kind, but perhaps most impressive were her listening skills and her ability to anticipate the customer's needs by using her intuition and soft sell skills (the old "hard sell" doesn't work on all customers, and she knows how to adjust her approach based on the customer's needs). Although, I've been through this car "wheeling and dealing" process several times in the past; my experience with Ms. Soleiman took the anxiety factor out of having to be put through that kind of a process. I knew the car I wanted, she listened, and while I ended up getting a different Honda model, I did so because she was able to instill a level of trust in me that enabled me to take a bold step and try a new addition to the Honda fleet--the CR-Z. I've been loyal to the Civic for many years, but I am excited about my new car and feel confident that I will get the support I need from Ms. Soleiman and her team at White Plains Honda.

I had an opportunity to work with Lisa, Tiffany and Gus, and all shared the overall mindset of doing their best to please the customer. I commend White Plains Honda for their attention to detail, their teamwork and whoever made the decision to hire Mae Soleiman, I tip my hat to them; she is truly an asset to the Honda family and I expect that you will hear more of these positive customer comments!

I confidently recommend White Plains Honda! Keep up the great work...
