White Plains Honda - Two (5) Star Reviews on DealerRater

  • The whole process from stepping into the dealership, to the sales consultant, the vechile tests drives,to purchasing the vechile went as smooth as possible. -kdibiccari
  • I was very impressed with my car buying experience and particularly with my salesman Bob. I had been looking at cars at a number of dealers for several months. I noticed that at White Plains Honda, the entire staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make sure I was taken care of. I didn't get the pushiness or rudeness I have seen at too many other dealerships. Bob was very knowledgable about the car and answered all the questions I had very well. I had a bitter taste in my mouth after shopping elsewhere so it was a breath of fresh air to come to this place. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a more enjoyable car buying experience.

The financing department explained the terms of my loan in an easy to understand manner. They were very quick too. -bensteel21

UK survey says Honda models most "pothole-proof"

Honda-civic-wheel-628
A new study by Warranty Direct in the UK claims Honda makes vehicles that are the least-susceptible to damage from potholes. According to the company, only 1.4 percent of Honda owners submit a warranty claim for repair due to pothole damage. Compare that figure with the 12.2 percent of Chrysler owners who submit claims – the American automaker found itself the least resilient to pothole damage alongside luxury makes like Land Rover, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz and BMW. Surprisingly enough, Smart actually landed itself in second place for the number of claims submitted as a result of pothole damage.

Economical brands like Toyota, Hyundai, Nissan and Kia all fare well against rough pavement, however. We're not surprised by the outcome. Luxury vehicles are more likely to be equipped with low-profile tires and large, expensive wheels that can easily be bent or broken under the right circumstances. Budget vehicles, meanwhile, make due with meaty sidewalls and sturdy steel wheels. Head over to What Car for the full rankings.

White Plains Honda - Four (5) Star Reviews on DealerRater

  • I worked with Matt Adovic on the lease of a new Honda Pilot for a client. My company, Car Pal, LLC - a national car buying service, works with a lot of dealers and even though I (Lindsay Graham) have had a lot of dealers I like working with, Matt is by far the easiest person to do business with. And no, I'm not associated with any one dealership, we work with them all!
Matt Adovic lines up the perfect sales person who gives A+ service. Matt also handles pricing, and locating the vehicle quickly. And in a world where time is money, speed equals excellence! Thank you Matt Adovic for your superior service and the service of White Plains Honda employees! My clients thank you as well and tell me over and over how great you are! -
    LindsayGraham
  • I was very happy with my visit to your dealership. Working with Albert and Brandy was a pleasure. They were both very very helpful. Your entire staff are very very nice people. This is my 2nd car purchased from Honda. -sunshinegirl
  • Good service. Reputable and fair. Worked with me. Fast process. Keith was fair and upfront. All a customer wants. The experience was good. Didn't feel I was taken advantage of. -Dianedee23@verizon.net
  • Keith was a pleasure to work with. I had been to MANY other dealerships when deciding whether to buy a Honda or something else. I finally decided on the Honda Pilot...which I love, so far!
Keith was professional, informative & relaxed...which was nice.
If you decide on a Honda I would recommend you go to this dealership & ask for Keith. -

A concept vehicle revealing the styling direction of the next-generation Honda Accord Coupe will debut at the 2012 North American International Auto Show January 10, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today.

The Accord Coupe Concept will convey the dynamic and aggressive profile of the ninth-generation 2013 Honda Accord set to go on sale in the fall of 2012. John Mendel, American Honda executive vice president of sales, will introduce the concept vehicle at a press conference, which will also be broadcast live via webcast at http://hondanews.com/live/2012naias-honda (link will be live Jan. 10).

White Plains Honda - Two Positive Reviews on DealerRater

  • I went out for a Sunday drive and came home with a certified pre-owned 2010 CRV. Keith is a real gentleman, he's honest and genuinely friendly. He changed my opinion of sales people. He helped me pick out the CRV I was intersted in and explained to me how everything works in the CRV. I will definetly recommend White Plains Honda and especially Keith Johnson to anyone I know looking for a Honda. He also went above and beyond to make sure some scuff marks were touched up on the exterior and a panel was replaced on the interior, thanks again Keith. Also Gustavo in the finance department did a great job on securing the loan. -mclougs
  • Sandy and the rest of the staff were very friendly and professional. She worked very hard to find a vehicle that was just right for me and found a way to get the deal done when I didn't think it could. Great service and I got a great car. Thank you Sandy -dmw1678

Twelve American Honda Models Earn IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK

03_2012_cr_v_ex_l_awd

Twelve American Honda models, including the all-new 2012 CR-V that goes on-sale today, received the highest possible safety rating of TOP SAFETY PICK from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) under its more-stringent testing guidelines implemented last year.

The IIHS award recognizes vehicles that do the best job of protecting vehicle occupants involved in front, side and rear crashes, plus rollover performance based on ratings in the Institute's tests.

Announced by IIHS today, the Honda Fit, CR-Z, Insight, Accord, CR-V, Pilot and Ridgeline along with the Acura TL, TSX and MDX all earned the highest-possible score of GOOD in all four ratings, including the more rigorous roof-strength test. Earlier this year the all-new Civic and redesigned Odyssey earned the TOP SAFETY PICK, giving American Honda twelve 2012 TOP SAFETY PICK winners.

"We're proud to have achieved IIHS TOP SAFETY TOP rating for nine new 2012 Honda models and three 2012 Acura models, making American Honda among the best in the industry with twelve vehicles with top-class IIHS safety ratings under their new, more stringent ratings protocols," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "In fact, 91% of American Honda vehicles sold in the U.S. are TOP SAFETY PICKS. This accomplishment is part of a concerted effort we have made to reassert the Honda brand as a clear leader in this area."

Standard safety equipment on all Honda and Acura models include Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with traction control; an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS); side curtain airbags (some vehicles equipped with a rollover sensor as well); dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags; a driver's front side airbag; and a front passenger's side airbag with an occupant position detection system. All 2012 Honda and Acura models recognized by the IIHS, with the exception of the Ridgeline, utilize the Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure. ACE is an exclusive body design that enhances occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal crashes. The ACE design utilizes a network of connected structural elements to distribute crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle. This enhanced frontal crash energy management helps to reduce the forces transferred to the passenger compartment.

White Plains Honda - Three Positive Reviews on DealerRater

  • Sandy offered great customer service. She was very helpful and friendly throughout the whole process. I will definitely recommend this dealership to my family and friends. -isisore
  • The dealership had me waiting for my Accord longer than the promised delivery date. It was frustrating, and a result of inventory issues due to the tsunami. It was understandable but the dealership could have done a better job explaining this and managing my expectations.

However, Keith Alexander provided superlative service throughout the whole experience. He is a nice man, customer-service oriented, friendly, funny, honest and very concerned with his customers being treated fairly. Once the situation emerged, he worked pro-actively to keep in touch with me, get me information and ensure that the deliver problem got resolved as quickly and and smoothly as possible.

I would recommend that anyone interested in purchasing or leasing a Honda from from this dealership insist on working with Keith Alexander. A very nice man and he'll make you his priority. -burnsburr

  • Sales experience was very pleasant. Albert dealt with us in a straight-forward manner. All our questions were answered. Quality and appearance of Civic purchased was excellent. My family already owns one.-Shark3348

White Plains Honda - (5) Star Review on GoogleMaps

  • I just bought a 2011 Honda CR-V from White Plains Honda. I worked with Roger & Keith on the deal and with Brandi (she was the Delivery Coordinator) when I picked up my car. Roger and Keith were at the "certified used" side of the dealership - I was initially interested in a used CR-V but they ended up working with me on the price to get me into a brand new 2011 CR-V. Not only were they professional and great to work with, but Keith went above and beyond my expectations to ensure that I was taken care of. I shared with him that one of the main reasons I was interested in the CR-V with 4WD was to feel safe on the roads during my long commute in the winter months and he promised to get me everything I needed in order to ensure that I was in my car by December 1st. He worked quickly on the deal and on facilitating all the requests that I had for my vehicle, and not only did he do it in record time but he kept me in the loop at every step of the way. Once it was time to take possession of the vehicle, Brandi was amazing at teaching me all about my new set of wheels. She walked me through all the controls on the interior and even helped me set up my Bluetooth connection in the car. I never felt rushed or pushed to make a decision or to sign the paperwork. Truly great people to work with and I look forward to working with them again. They are highly recommended and you can trust that you'll get treated very well at this dealership. -Nicole

James familiarized me with all the car's features from seat adjustment to blue tooth - patient, articulate, a perfect gentleman. Finally, Kurt, the business manager, finished up the paper quickly with no fuss, efficient as a business manager should be. Overall, a first class experience from a first class operation. Trying out Honda's cutting-edge electric SH-AWD system

01-honda-sh-awd-opt
For decades, Honda successfully cultivated a hard-earned reputation for technological innovation and thoughtful engineering, but the Japanese automaker has seemingly grown content to let other automakers lead the way with new technologies in recent years. To this point, Honda has stubbornly resisted the engine-downsizing movement, direct injection, as well as more sophisticated gearboxes and hybrids, instead focusing on refining existing technologies and relying on its lighter weight vehicles to keep their models' performance metrics in the hunt.

Honda is hard at work on a hybrid evolution of the company's already trick Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system.

No more, says CEO Takanobu Ito. Honda has embarked on a multi-tier technology binge that Ito says will have Honda at the forefront of fuel economy metrics worldwide within three years. On the table? More advanced everything, from the aforementioned powertrain technologies including a new small-displacement diesel and a new CVT, to direct injection and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Of course, we've seen similar products brought to market from other automakers already, so excellence in execution will need to be Honda's differentiator. But we tend to expect more innovative thinking from an automaker with such a rich history of elegant engineering, so we were pleased to learn that Soichiro's crew is hard at work on a hybrid evolution of the company's already trick Super Handling All-Wheel Drive serving in vehicles like the Acura TL, RDX and MDX.

In addition to the torque-vectoring rear axle already in production, Honda is incubating a new three-motor hybrid AWD architecture that it says will offer V8 power and a more nimble driving experience than typical all-wheel-drive systems, all while delivering four-cylinder fuel economy.

Just ahead of the Tokyo Motor Show, Honda bussed us to its Twin-Ring Motegi racetrack to sample its radical new SH-AWD system in an Accord mule.

Despite the plebeian bodywork of this evaluation model, make no mistake, hardware this costly will not debut in something with a Honda badge out front – it will be a technological linchpin for Acura's revival.

As shown here, this SH-AWD system relies on a direct-injected variant of Honda's 3.5-liter V6, tuned here to deliver 310 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque (for comparison's sake, the 3.5-liter six-cylinder in the 2012 Accord manages 271 hp and 254 lb-ft). Internal combustion is joined under the hood by a single 40-hp, 96-lb-ft electric motor mated directly to a Honda-developed seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Out back, a pair of 27-horsepower, 52-lb-ft electric motors power the rear wheels, providing through-the-road all-wheel drive (read: there's no mechanical connection between the front and rear wheels). By independently controlling the two motors, either positive or negative torque can be applied to an individual rear wheel, providing torque vectoring in corners while funneling power back into the lithium-ion battery. Because the system can simultaneously flow positive torque to the outside wheel and negative torque to the inside wheel in a corner, significantly improved cornering over Honda's current mechanical SH-AWD setup is possible.

The larger front-mounted motor can also drive the car independently during low-speed maneuvers when the engine is shut off by the start-stop system, as you might want while inching through rush-hour traffic or pulling away from a stoplight. Honda says the car can reach 25 mph running solely on electrons, but as this is a mule, all performance parameters remain subject to change.

So how well does it all work? Our time behind the wheel was extremely brief, consisting of little more than one lap of a handling course. Thus, we'll have to withhold judgment, but we will say that the system shows genuine promise. Whirring away from the pits under electric power and having the V6 seamlessly come to life was an encouraging start, but we didn't really get a feel for the SH-AWD until we started negotiating the corners and slalom. While carving through the orange pylons, the sedan felt significantly – and predictably – nimbler than a standard front-drive Accord, displaying genuine eagerness to change direction. In fact, with such brief exposure, it initially felt like the Honda's tail was drifting out a bit, so willing was its rump to rotate. Thankfully, the liveliness was wholly under control, with no drama or tire squealing, just quicker-than-expected turn-in and faithful tracking. While certainly swift, claims of V8 acceleration feel a bit inflated, but given excellent traction and further tuning, such assertions seem possible.

We'd love to give you the full report on how well the Honda's new dual-clutch gearbox works, how heavy the system is, and how fuel efficient the car is out in the real world, but we'll need more wheel time in a production car to do so, and for the moment, officials remain tight-lipped on when this technology will debut. Regardless, it's encouraging to see Honda pushing to regain its powertrain innovation reputation... and to see it investing in Acura.

  • This was my 3rd car purchased from WPHonda. Leased a loaded 2012 Pilot EX-L and the experience was fantastic. If you are looking for a Honda this should be your first stop no question .My wife said it was best car buying experience of many she has ever had. They were upfront, timely, and very helpful in negotiating and actually delivering on their promises. Not pushy at all. Like everyone else who struggles with the notion that all car dealers are crooks, my experience was the total opposite. They offered the best price in town and the sales manager Paul and salesman James in particular did an unbelievable job. The entire staff was extremely friendly and patient.. I have referred them to friends and family and will definitely go back in April when my next lease is up. GREAT JOB WHITE PLAINS HONDA TEAM!!! -Kevin

Honda’s New EV-STER Concept is the Beat of the Future

Honda-ev-ster-concept-7
While not the NSX or S2000 replacements that enthusiasts have long been waiting to see, the Japanese firm's EV-STER concept shows that Honda still has some faint traces of sporty genes left in its DNA.

The pure electric roadster model is very compact in size measuring just 3,570mm (140.5-in.) long, 1,500mm (59.0-in.) wide and 1,100mm (43.3-in.) tall, with a wheelbase of 2,325mm (92.5-in.). That makes it slightly bigger than the Beat, Honda's mid-engined, two-seat roadster kei car that was produced from 1991 to 1996.

But unlike Beat's conventional 0.66-liter gasoline engine, the EV-STER is motivated by a an unspecified electric motor that draws energy from a 10kWh lithium-ion battery powering the rear wheels (nope, that's not a typo) and allowing for a 0 to 100km/h (62mph) sprint time of just 5 seconds and a top speed of 160km/h (100mph).

The battery can be charged in under 3 hours using a 200V source and in less than 6 hours with a 100V source, offering a maximum driving range of 160 kilometers (100 miles).

Honda says that the EV-STER makes liberal use of carbon fiber materials to reduce the two-seater's weight, while other highlights include a twin-lever steering system, multi-information instrument panels and a system that allows the driver to make his or her own adjustments to certain vehicle characteristics such as motor output and suspension settings.

Honda readies ‘next NSX’ concept for the Detroit Auto Show

Honda-concepts-131011111148291621600x1060
Honda has revealed that it is working on a new concept that hints at a range-topping sports coupe.

The Super Sports concept will follow the Small Sports EV Concept that will be unveiled at this week’s Tokyo motor show. The Super Sports design will be shown at the Detroit show in January and will form a halo model that suggests a spiritual successor to the NSX.

The existence of two concepts reiterates recent comments from Honda chiefs that the company is working on a range of sports models. President of Honda Motor Europe, Manabu Nishimae, described how the company “knows that there are customers who want Honda sports cars, and we are developing and intending to deliver products for them”.

There are no official details regards the Super Sports’ engine transmission, but expect a high-performance hybrid or electric powertrain in keeping with the company's current push towards further electrification of its range. An all-wheel drive system is also possible.

The Small Sports EV Concept that will be seen at Tokyo is expected to reach showrooms by 2013.

2012 Green Car of the Year is the Honda Civic Natural Gas!

Honda-civic-natural-gas-green-car-of-the-year
The 2012 Green Car of the Year award was snagged from the electric and diesel jaws of its competitors by the Honda Civic Natural Gas. In a year full of standard gasoline powertrain alternatives, the Civic beat out the Ford Focus Electric, Mitsubishi i, Toyota Prius V and the Volkswagen Passat TDI.

Green Car Journal hands out the award and its rules state that the GCOTY needs to have a "quantifiable environmental achievement," market significance and "newness." Any car that has these clearly defined features and is available for sale by January 1, 2012 can be a nominee, and the list of finalists is whittled down by GCJ editors and selected industry and environmental experts.

Over the last four years, the GCOTY was won by a hybrid (the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid in 2008), diesels (the Volkswagen Jetta TDI in 2009 and the Audi A3 TDI in 2010) and a plug-in hybrid (the Chevrolet Volt in 2011).

White Plains Honda - (5) Star Review on DealerRater

  • This was my first time purchasing a certified Honda car from a dealership and I couldn't have chosen better. I had been to four previous dealerships before walking in the door of White Plains Honda and I noticed the difference in the quality of customer care from the start. My salesman Adalberto (Alberto) made me feel at home, he was very knowledgable and friendly. He took his time in explaining all the different car options so that I can better make a decision. I never felt pressured or made to feel like I needed to buy something which was what I was expecting. I have heard of horror stories from other dealerships in the past and my own experience before choosing Honda in White plain. Overall Alberto was the best sales person I have ever encountered. He is someone that I would definitely recommend to my friends and family interested in purchasing a car. I'm a female and not too familiar with cars, he took his time to explain to me everything about the car, we compard different options, different price ranges and I finally bought the car of my dreams!! I couldn't be happier with my decision. I want to thank everyone in dealership for making my experience and positive one, especially Adalberto. I was treated like family and that means a lot. Everyone was very professional and friendly.. I will definitely recommend this place because of my knowledgable and experienced salesman... Thanks White Plains Honda! -Vanessa01

  • We were greeted by Mae by the parking lot and immediately made us comfortable. We have a 2007 Honda Pilot, and before that a CRV and Honda Accord. We were checking out the Cross Tour and the new Honda Pilot this time with Navigation. We went home with a new Honda Pilot 2012 with Navigation same day. We had a good experience with Mae, the manager and financial rep who gave us good advice on finance and warranty.Brandi helped set up the phone, showed us how to work navigation and radio. We love our new car. -pascual

Honda Shows Off Micro Commuter Concept in Advance of the Tokyo Motor Show

Honda-micro-concept-carscoop3
If you've read our previous stories on the Honda Small EV Sports Car and AC-X Plug-in Hybrid family concepts, you won't be surprised to learn that the Japanese company is keeping a lid on most details concerning the Micro Commuter.

This is all the information we get from Honda's press release:

"A micro-sized, futuristic, electric city commuter which will become a highly accessible form of mobility for more people. This vehicle will offer the joy of a new type of communications between people and mobility and an exterior that the owner can enjoy customizing more casually. The collaboration of Honda's motorcycle and automobile R&D centers made it possible to load the MOTOR COMPO two-wheel EV commuter in this vehicle."

More to come when the 42nd Tokyo Motor Show opens on November 30.

White Plains Honda would like to take this opportunity to thank the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces from the past and present for their service and sacrifice on behalf of our country.

-Do you know which flower is the symbol of Veterans Day?

Answer- The Poppy. The story begins with the famous poem, "In Flanders Fields," written by John McCrae in 1915 ("In Flanders fields the poppies blow / Between the crosses, row on row"). In 1918 Moina Belle Michael, on reading McCrae's poem, pledged to always wear a red poppy as a sign of remembrance. Her idea spread, and in 1924 the Veterans of Foreign Wars launched its "Buddy Poppy" program to help disabled and needy veterans.

Honda Brings Civic Si Coupe HFP, Supercharged Accord Concept, and More to the 2011 SEMA Show

Honda-civic-si-coupe-hfp-103-626x382
The Honda stand at the 2011 SEMA show ought to give some hope to enthusiasts who may think Honda has lost its performance edge in recent years. Four projects in particular stood out: the most available—and arguably least significant of which—being this limited-edition Honda Civic Si coupe (pictured above) from Honda’s in-house tuners, HFP (a.k.a. Honda Factory Performance). With its full aero kit, stiffened suspension components, 0.6-in-lower ride height, and 18-inch HFP wheels, the HFP Civic Si promises the sort of intensified performance experience we wish the Civic Si innately possessed, but hey, we’ll take what we can get at this point. The interior is dressed up with red lighting, HFP floor mats, and HFP emblems. The Civic Si coupe with the HFP package is on sale now and can be had in any of the Si coupe’s seven available colors. Honda will cap production at just 500 units.

Accord Coupe V-6 HFP Concept

Accord Coupe V-6 HFP Concept

HFP also did a number to an Accord coupe, and not just on the outside. This particular Accord V-6 was fitted with a supercharger and a performance air intake and exhaust, upping output to a very hearty 335 hp and 285 lb-ft of torque. That’s a considerable jump from the standard V-6 model’s 271 hp and 251 lb-ft of torque. Honda has no plans to produce the car as seen here, but is floating it out there to gauge interest in adding such a model to the Accord range. The V-6 Accord, though, is already quick and powerful—we’ve run a manual-equipped coupe to 60 mph in just 5.6 seconds—so we have to ask: Can those front wheels even cope with that extra oomph?

Honda CR-Z engine

Could a Supercharged CR-Z Be in Our Future?

Another interesting concept was not an actual car, but a CR-Z internal combustion engine displayed with a supercharger attached to it. Honda race fans may recall that Honda’s racing division, Honda Performance Development, has built a CR-Z hybrid racer powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine, which, when combined with the CR-Z’s electric powertrain, yields between 178 and 200 hp, depending on state of tune. Honda said the supercharged 1.5-liter CR-Z engine concept “builds upon HPD’s experience with the turbocharged HPD CR-Z Racer,” and “represents HPD’s continued exploration of the performance potential of the CR-Z.” We’d like Honda to drop that into a street-worthy CR-Z and let us do some performance exploration of our own.

2012 Honda Civic Coupe Body-in-White

2012 Honda Civic Coupe Body-in-White

Finally, Honda formally announced the sale of body-in-white versions of the 2012 Civic coupe, as well as a suite of complementary bolt-on parts, thus allowing amateur race teams to build new race cars without having to tear apart a production car. The cost for the Civic coupe’s skeleton is a reasonable $3500, but that does not include any of the stuff needed to actually turn it in into a bona fide race car, like, say, an engine. To that end, in early 2012, HPD will begin selling engines, transmissions, suspension and brake components, and more, all specifically engineered to help the Civic compete in SCCA World Challenge and Grand Am’s Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge events. Since July, Honda has sold more than half a dozen bodies-in-white. Undoubtedly, many more will follow.
