Honda readies ‘next NSX’ concept for the Detroit Auto Show

Honda-concepts-131011111148291621600x1060
Honda has revealed that it is working on a new concept that hints at a range-topping sports coupe.

The Super Sports concept will follow the Small Sports EV Concept that will be unveiled at this week’s Tokyo motor show. The Super Sports design will be shown at the Detroit show in January and will form a halo model that suggests a spiritual successor to the NSX.

The existence of two concepts reiterates recent comments from Honda chiefs that the company is working on a range of sports models. President of Honda Motor Europe, Manabu Nishimae, described how the company “knows that there are customers who want Honda sports cars, and we are developing and intending to deliver products for them”.

There are no official details regards the Super Sports’ engine transmission, but expect a high-performance hybrid or electric powertrain in keeping with the company's current push towards further electrification of its range. An all-wheel drive system is also possible.

The Small Sports EV Concept that will be seen at Tokyo is expected to reach showrooms by 2013.

2012 Green Car of the Year is the Honda Civic Natural Gas!

Honda-civic-natural-gas-green-car-of-the-year
The 2012 Green Car of the Year award was snagged from the electric and diesel jaws of its competitors by the Honda Civic Natural Gas. In a year full of standard gasoline powertrain alternatives, the Civic beat out the Ford Focus Electric, Mitsubishi i, Toyota Prius V and the Volkswagen Passat TDI.

Green Car Journal hands out the award and its rules state that the GCOTY needs to have a "quantifiable environmental achievement," market significance and "newness." Any car that has these clearly defined features and is available for sale by January 1, 2012 can be a nominee, and the list of finalists is whittled down by GCJ editors and selected industry and environmental experts.

Over the last four years, the GCOTY was won by a hybrid (the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid in 2008), diesels (the Volkswagen Jetta TDI in 2009 and the Audi A3 TDI in 2010) and a plug-in hybrid (the Chevrolet Volt in 2011).

White Plains Honda - (5) Star Review on DealerRater

  • This was my first time purchasing a certified Honda car from a dealership and I couldn't have chosen better. I had been to four previous dealerships before walking in the door of White Plains Honda and I noticed the difference in the quality of customer care from the start. My salesman Adalberto (Alberto) made me feel at home, he was very knowledgable and friendly. He took his time in explaining all the different car options so that I can better make a decision. I never felt pressured or made to feel like I needed to buy something which was what I was expecting. I have heard of horror stories from other dealerships in the past and my own experience before choosing Honda in White plain. Overall Alberto was the best sales person I have ever encountered. He is someone that I would definitely recommend to my friends and family interested in purchasing a car. I'm a female and not too familiar with cars, he took his time to explain to me everything about the car, we compard different options, different price ranges and I finally bought the car of my dreams!! I couldn't be happier with my decision. I want to thank everyone in dealership for making my experience and positive one, especially Adalberto. I was treated like family and that means a lot. Everyone was very professional and friendly.. I will definitely recommend this place because of my knowledgable and experienced salesman... Thanks White Plains Honda! -Vanessa01

  • We were greeted by Mae by the parking lot and immediately made us comfortable. We have a 2007 Honda Pilot, and before that a CRV and Honda Accord. We were checking out the Cross Tour and the new Honda Pilot this time with Navigation. We went home with a new Honda Pilot 2012 with Navigation same day. We had a good experience with Mae, the manager and financial rep who gave us good advice on finance and warranty.Brandi helped set up the phone, showed us how to work navigation and radio. We love our new car. -pascual

Honda Shows Off Micro Commuter Concept in Advance of the Tokyo Motor Show

Honda-micro-concept-carscoop3
If you've read our previous stories on the Honda Small EV Sports Car and AC-X Plug-in Hybrid family concepts, you won't be surprised to learn that the Japanese company is keeping a lid on most details concerning the Micro Commuter.

This is all the information we get from Honda's press release:

"A micro-sized, futuristic, electric city commuter which will become a highly accessible form of mobility for more people. This vehicle will offer the joy of a new type of communications between people and mobility and an exterior that the owner can enjoy customizing more casually. The collaboration of Honda's motorcycle and automobile R&D centers made it possible to load the MOTOR COMPO two-wheel EV commuter in this vehicle."

More to come when the 42nd Tokyo Motor Show opens on November 30.

White Plains Honda would like to take this opportunity to thank the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces from the past and present for their service and sacrifice on behalf of our country.

-Do you know which flower is the symbol of Veterans Day?

Answer- The Poppy. The story begins with the famous poem, "In Flanders Fields," written by John McCrae in 1915 ("In Flanders fields the poppies blow / Between the crosses, row on row"). In 1918 Moina Belle Michael, on reading McCrae's poem, pledged to always wear a red poppy as a sign of remembrance. Her idea spread, and in 1924 the Veterans of Foreign Wars launched its "Buddy Poppy" program to help disabled and needy veterans.

Honda Brings Civic Si Coupe HFP, Supercharged Accord Concept, and More to the 2011 SEMA Show

Honda-civic-si-coupe-hfp-103-626x382
The Honda stand at the 2011 SEMA show ought to give some hope to enthusiasts who may think Honda has lost its performance edge in recent years. Four projects in particular stood out: the most available—and arguably least significant of which—being this limited-edition Honda Civic Si coupe (pictured above) from Honda’s in-house tuners, HFP (a.k.a. Honda Factory Performance). With its full aero kit, stiffened suspension components, 0.6-in-lower ride height, and 18-inch HFP wheels, the HFP Civic Si promises the sort of intensified performance experience we wish the Civic Si innately possessed, but hey, we’ll take what we can get at this point. The interior is dressed up with red lighting, HFP floor mats, and HFP emblems. The Civic Si coupe with the HFP package is on sale now and can be had in any of the Si coupe’s seven available colors. Honda will cap production at just 500 units.

Accord Coupe V-6 HFP Concept

Accord Coupe V-6 HFP Concept

HFP also did a number to an Accord coupe, and not just on the outside. This particular Accord V-6 was fitted with a supercharger and a performance air intake and exhaust, upping output to a very hearty 335 hp and 285 lb-ft of torque. That’s a considerable jump from the standard V-6 model’s 271 hp and 251 lb-ft of torque. Honda has no plans to produce the car as seen here, but is floating it out there to gauge interest in adding such a model to the Accord range. The V-6 Accord, though, is already quick and powerful—we’ve run a manual-equipped coupe to 60 mph in just 5.6 seconds—so we have to ask: Can those front wheels even cope with that extra oomph?

Honda CR-Z engine

Could a Supercharged CR-Z Be in Our Future?

Another interesting concept was not an actual car, but a CR-Z internal combustion engine displayed with a supercharger attached to it. Honda race fans may recall that Honda’s racing division, Honda Performance Development, has built a CR-Z hybrid racer powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine, which, when combined with the CR-Z’s electric powertrain, yields between 178 and 200 hp, depending on state of tune. Honda said the supercharged 1.5-liter CR-Z engine concept “builds upon HPD’s experience with the turbocharged HPD CR-Z Racer,” and “represents HPD’s continued exploration of the performance potential of the CR-Z.” We’d like Honda to drop that into a street-worthy CR-Z and let us do some performance exploration of our own.

2012 Honda Civic Coupe Body-in-White

2012 Honda Civic Coupe Body-in-White

Finally, Honda formally announced the sale of body-in-white versions of the 2012 Civic coupe, as well as a suite of complementary bolt-on parts, thus allowing amateur race teams to build new race cars without having to tear apart a production car. The cost for the Civic coupe’s skeleton is a reasonable $3500, but that does not include any of the stuff needed to actually turn it in into a bona fide race car, like, say, an engine. To that end, in early 2012, HPD will begin selling engines, transmissions, suspension and brake components, and more, all specifically engineered to help the Civic compete in SCCA World Challenge and Grand Am’s Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge events. Since July, Honda has sold more than half a dozen bodies-in-white. Undoubtedly, many more will follow.

White Plains Honda - Four (5) Star Reviews on DealerRater

  • The dealership salesperson (Naveed)was very polite, understanding and knowledgeable. The entire sale of my Honda Pilot from start to finish was a great experience at White Plains Honda. This is my second Pilot and I love it. -recafamily@verizon.net
  • Went in to this dealership because they had the pre-owned I was looking for. I dealt with Mae, who was very friendly, and professional. Any questions I had, or requests, she was quick to help. I usually haven't received great customer service like this at a dealership, but Mae changed my mind about that. She wasn't pushy, but still let me know my options, and told me about the car, the benefits, and made sure it had everything I was looking for. Very professional and friendly. Recommend you ask for Mae if you visit this dealer. -override
  • We had a great experience with White Plains Honda, specifically Alberto. He was quick and efficient and able to meet all of our needs. When I picked the car up I had to bring my 3 year old son. We had a delay with my insurance and Alberto helped me entertain my son for over an hour! He was incredibly friendly and service oriented. We LOVE our new car! -Laurelizaa
  • Service was exceptional from greeting to delivery of car. The Salesman and Business manager were knowledgeable, courteous and helped seal the deal in record time. -valladares
